Lifestyle photography FAQ
What is a lifestyle shoot?
A lifestyle shoot is a relaxed shoot anywhere but the studio. They can be out in nature, the city CBD, anywhere that personifies you and your loved ones.
How long will the shoot last?
Depending on the package you choose, the shoot will be a 30min, 1hr or 2hr shoot at a location we decide on together. Longer sessions will enable you to have multiple wardrobe changes as well as multiple locations.
What should i wear?
The most important thing is that you’re comfortable. Wear what you feel good in as that confidence will come across in the pictures.
I would suggest coordinating styles if you’re doing a couple or family shoot. Avoid patterns, dots, zigzags and logos which can all draw the focus away from you.
When and where will the shoot take place?
Although I have a studio, lifestyle shoots are best done on location. A forest, open veld, the Johannesburg CBD – we can shoot your session anywhere you like.
I recommend scheduling your portrait shoot around 1.5 hrs before sunset as this time of day has the best light.
Are there additional fees?
Nobody likes hidden costs so your shoot and the images outlined in the package you choose are included in the price.
Some locations / venues do charge a fee for their use, but that will be discussed before we decide on a location for your shoot.
If you decide to order additional items, those costs will be added to your order and itemised accordingly.
What are the terms of payment?
50% Deposit upfront to secure your booking date – the balance is due 7 days before the date of your session.
Boudoir photography FAQ
Is my session private? Do you share my images?
Images are never shared anywhere without your permission. I will ask for permission to use specific images and you have final say in exactly which images you choose to share.
Where do the sessions take place?
If you have a stylish home with lots of natural light, that could work.
I feel the best option is to hire a hotel room and photograph your boudoir shoot there. That way, the “look” of the pictures is elegant and stylish and we have the use of a bedroom and bathroom so there are options available. Some locations even offer the use of the garden.
I don’t know how to pose, will you help?
Absolutely! I give really easy to follow instructions so you will look your best.
Who will be in the studio while I am having my photos taken? Can I bring a friend?
If you would prefer a friend or family member to be present while you are being photographed you can certainly do that. Ideally a female friend as this is much more relaxing than bringing a guy.
How long will the session take?
The photographic session takes 1 to 2 hours depending on the package you choose.
Newborn photography FAQ
What is the best time for a bump shoot?
Generally speaking 34/35 weeks is a good time for the shoot. You don’t want to leave it too late :-)
What is the best age for a newborn shoot?
The best time for the shoot is within the first 7-10 days to get those amazing squishy / foldy baby shots. This is best done in the studio.
What should i do before the shoot?
A good wipe of the little one’s face and body before you arrive is always recommended. That will clean off any flakey skin or baby powder that may be on his or her skin.
I like to book the shoot in the morning as we have found the babies to be more settled in the morning.
You can arrive at my studio at 9:30, remove the baby’s clothes and feed them. Once settled and asleep we can start.
It is more difficult if you feed at home and then drive over here as they will generally wake up and not be sleepy when we want to start.
And the best shots are when they are sleeping :-)
How do i book a newborn shoot?
You can book a shoot by completing this form so we can sort out a date for your shoot.
Do you have photography packages?
Yes, I will email you the brochure with all the details when I receive your email. Please complete this form.
Do you have props for the newborn shoot?
Yes I do. All the props and blankets you see in the pictures on my site are mine so you do not have to bring anything. Well, except the baby…
Bring a dummy, bring a dummy, bring a dummy.
Please, please please, I beg you – bring a dummy. If they are unsettled it is very difficult to settle the baby if they do not have a dummy.
If the baby is breastfed, bring a bottle.
If the baby is breastfed, we would advise expressing into a bottle so you can see how much the baby is drinking. Sometimes it is difficult to know just how much they have (or have not) had to drink.
Corporate portraits FAQ
Do you have a studio?
Yes, I have a small studio in the Midrand / Kyalami area where I shoot a lot of my corporate portraits.
If the group is bigger than two or three I can bring the studio to your offices.
Can you set up a studio at our offices?
Absolutely. I will bring the paper backdrop and all the lighting necessary to produce an amazing business portrait at your offices.
I will need a space of approximately 4m wide by 5-6m long. A boardroom works well if I can move the table.
How many pictures do we get?
If the shoot is for an individual you will receive 20 photographer selected images.
When it comes to company shoots where there are more than 5 people you will receive 5 photographer selected images each.
How do we recieve our images?
The high res images are delivered via Dropbox or wetransfer.com.
If you require a disc containing the images that can be provided for an additional R100 excl vat.
